چکیده
Results There were 20 cases of AGEP that were seen during the study period. Of which there are 8 males (40%) and 12 (females (60%) with a mean age of 60 years (Range : 24-85 years). In addition to extensive pinpoint pustules, other cutaneous features included facial edema, target-like lesions with rim of pustules and edema bulla. Common laboratory derangement included leukocytosis, eosinophilia, atypical lymphocytes and elevated C reactive protein. 25% and 30% of cases had liver or renal impairment respectively. The most common causative drugs were betalactam antibiotics, fluoroquinolones and anti-epileptic medications. The median latency from drug initiation to onset of rash was 5 days. 90% of cases resolved within 2 days. In-hospital mortality was 10%.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis induced by simvastatin.
Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis is an acute pustular eruption occurring most commonly after drug ingestion. It is a self-healing condition with spontaneous cure after discontinuation of the causative drug. We report the second case, as far as we know, of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis induced by simvastatin intake. Conclusion: simvastatin can be included on the long list ...
متن کاملAcute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP) due to dapsone in a patient with leprosy.
Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP) is a dermatosis characterised by an acute episode of appearance of sub-corneal sterile pustules over erythematous-edematous skin. AGEP is often associated with systemic symptoms such as high grade fever and is usually considered to be an adverse drug reaction, although a viral etiology is sometimes implicated. Here we report a case of AGEP follo...
متن کاملA systemic reaction to patch testing for the evaluation of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis.
BACKGROUND Patch tests are considered safe but adverse reactions have been reported. OBSERVATIONS A case of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) provoked by a patch test with acetaminophen is described. Of special interest are the negative patch test results obtained with the offending drug. The case is discussed against the background of the putative mechanisms of AGEP and the r...

AGEP: Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis EBV: Epstein-Barr virus A cute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare severe cutaneous reaction characterized by the acute onset of generalized nonfollicular sterile pustules arising on an edematous erythema. The eruption is usually associated with fever and neutrophilic leukocytosis. Although AGEP is precipitated by drugs in most ...
متن کاملA Case of Celecoxib Induced Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis
Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is manifested by rapid development of many sterile, nonfollicular pustules on a background of edematous erythema. More than 90 percent of AGEP are induced by medication, mostly antibiotics. Drug patch test can be helpful in the diagnosis of AGEP. This paper reports the first case of celecoxib-induced AGEP confirmed by patch test in Korean litera...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Hydroxychloroquine-Induced Recalcitrant Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis with Cyclosporine: Case Report and Literature Review
Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a cutaneous reaction principally induced by drugs. Spontaneous resolution is observed in most patients. However, severe cases required systemic corticosteroid administration. Hydroxychloroquine, which is used to treat some dermatologic and rheumatologic diseases because of its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, is an uncommon ca...
